This past February, First United Methodist Church of Gilbert was among 20 churches joining 62 total donation locations across the town in the 2026 Gilbert Feeding Families Food Drive — and the results were remarkable.

Together, participants collected 55,167 pounds of food and $10,985 in monetary donations, translating to 78,927 meals for families in need. That's an increase of nearly 10,000 pounds over last year — a powerful sign of a community leaning into generosity. This drive helps to replenish low stock in food pantries in our town following the holiday season.

Mayor Scott Anderson expressed the town's gratitude to all participating organizations, writing: "We are proud to live in a community where neighbors come together to care for one another."

We are grateful to everyone at First Gilbert who donated, volunteered, or spread the word. This is the church being the church — present, generous, and rooted in the neighborhood we call home.

Mark your calendars: the drive returns February 8–21, 2027. We hope to make an even greater impact together.
